Chickasaw skates past Blacksher with ease

Recap: Chickasaw Chieftains vs. Blacksher Bulldogs

The Chickasaw Chieftains had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past Blacksher, posting a 48-21 victory at home. Given Chickasaw's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Blacksher is ranked 452nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chickasaw found their leader in underclassman Sydrus Gilmore, who scored eight points along with five steals. Gilmore has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Kendall Sims was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Chickasaw has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Blacksher, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-11.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Clarke County the next time they take the court. Chickasaw will head out to face Clarke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Blacksher will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
