Recap: Coral Reef Barracudas vs. Dr. Krop Lightning
The Coral Reef Barracudas pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dr. Krop. Coral Reef has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Coral Reef lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gianmarco Altare. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Yvon Mbenza, who scored 12 points.
Joseph Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dr. Krop, dropping a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Washington has scored at least 25% of Dr. Krop's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johans Richards, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Coral Reef has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Dr. Krop, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coral Reef will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hialeah Gardens at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th. One thing working in Hialeah Gardens' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Dr. Krop will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Brendan at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
