Softball Recap: South Spartans vs. Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves

South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves by a score of 9-7. South was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wiseburn- Da Vinci apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Katie Barrett put in work no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Barrett has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Barrett was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Hina Usuda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Sofia Ayabarreno was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

On Wiseburn- Da Vinci's side, Jasmine Veal was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Bazil, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-7-1.

South will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lawndale at 3:30 p.m. on April 10th. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they will head out on the road to face off against Leuzinger at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wiseburn- Da Vinci is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
