Recap: La Cueva Bears vs. Farmington Scorpions

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the La Cueva Bears walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Farmington 45-6 at home. The win was nothing new for La Cueva as they're now sitting on eight straight.
La Cueva was led to victory by Cheeto Lumbrera iii and Cameron Dyer. Lumbrera iii rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns, while Dyer rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Dyer hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games.
Another reason for the win was La Cueva's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mason Posa.
La Cueva pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-3 Rio Rancho and 8-3 Sandia (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.3% over those games). As for Farmington, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
La Cueva will be playing at home against Las Cruces at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Las Cruces is ranked fifth, while La Cueva is ranked fourth). Farmington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
