Baseball Recap: Woodbridge Comes Up Short

Woodbridge fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Alexandria City on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 7-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Woodbridge saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Nau, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Woodbridge and nudges their season record down to 7-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-0 Independence (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 91.7% over those games). As for Alexandria City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodbridge will square off against Langley at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Alexandria City, they will challenge Independence at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Independence will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Alexandria City surely won't give up without a fight.
