Baseball Game Preview: Gunnison Valley Bulldogs vs. Richfield Wildcats

The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Richfield Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Gunnison Valley is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.

While Gunnison Valley's win against Non Varsity Opponent wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Non Varsity Opponent 10-9.

The team relied heavily on Waylon Sorenson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Richfield was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to North Sanpete. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Richfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Gunnison Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Richfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Gunnison Valley might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Richfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
