Basketball Recap: Owyhee Takes a Loss

After soaring to 58 points the game before, Owyhee was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They came up short against the Eureka Vandals, falling 44-24. The Braves have struggled against the Vandals recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Megan Johnson was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 12 points, ten boards, and ten steals for Eureka. Johnson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Gray, who went 7 for 14 en route to 15 points and five steals.

Owyhee's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Eureka, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owyhee will head out to take on Carlin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Owyhee's defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so Carlin's offense will have their work cut out for them. Eureka has already played their next contest (against Lund), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
