Soccer Game Preview: Cypress vs. La Habra

The Cypress Centurions will head out to take on the La Habra Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cypress' last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cypress is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Sonora on Friday. Cypress fell just short of Sonora by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Raiders are ranked 262nd).

Meanwhile, La Habra has been on a difficult stretch since their win on December 27. They and El Modena finished up their game with a 0-0 draw on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Highlanders as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

La Habra's draw gives them a new season record of 8-9-4. As for Cypress, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-9-3.

Cypress beat La Habra 2-0 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cypress since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
