Baseball Preview: Chalmette Owls vs. Bourgeois Braves
The Chalmette Owls will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Bourgeois Braves at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chalmette put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They never let East Jefferson onto the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The win was just what Chalmette needed coming off of a 12-1 defeat in their prior contest.
Bryce Wilson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Wilson has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
In other batting news, Cameron Tipton and Jayden Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Tipton went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base, while Williams went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Chalmette's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs per game. As for Bourgeois, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-15.
