Basketball Recap: Blake Hamilton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Latta over Waccamaw

Latta played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. 2025 welcomed they with a 65-40 loss courtesy of the Waccamaw Warriors. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.

Latta's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Hamilton, who posted four points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Waccamaw to victory, but perhaps none more so than AJ Grate, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 18 points. Grate is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Joel Hodo was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Latta has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Waccamaw, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Latta wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 42-34 defeat against Ragin Prep Christian Academy on the 3rd. As for Waccamaw, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-35 victory against Pee Dee Academy on the 3rd.
