Baseball Game Preview: Ashdown Panthers vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

The Ashdown Panthers will face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ashdown will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Ashdown's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Centerpoint by a score of 4-0.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Arkansas made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hot Springs on Tuesday. The Razorbacks were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Razorbacks, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Eli Wall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Wall was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Arkansas' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mavrick Adcock, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Arkansas is 3-1 when Adcock posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Brunson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Arkansas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Arkansas' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Ashdown, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
