Baseball Game Preview: Los Alamitos Griffins vs. Santa Margarita Eagles

The Los Alamitos Griffins will head out on the road to take on the Santa Margarita Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Los Alamitos 3, Santa Margarita 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Los Alamitos is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Orange Lutheran get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Considering the Griffins have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

SEAN KASSAWARA tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, TYLER SMITH was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DAMON VALDEZ, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

On Tuesday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Santa Margarita won by a run and slipped past Huntington Beach 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on five straight.

Santa Margarita pushed their record up to 18-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Los Alamitos, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-9-2.

Los Alamitos might still be hurting after the 13-7 loss they got from Santa Margarita in their previous meeting back in February of 2019. Can the Griffins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
