Football Preview: Summit Academy Bears vs. Emery Spartans

Summit Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over South Sevier. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Bears were the (much) better team in the second half.
Liam Larson had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 233 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 94-yard run. Summit Academy also got help from Kyle Lively, who showed off his sure hands for 110 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Emery). They breezed by American Leadership Academy to the tune of 70-21 last Friday. With the Spartans ahead 56-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Porter Hurdsman was his usual excellent self, picking up 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 68 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. Jaxon Johnson was another key player, rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Emery was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The win (which was Emery's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.8 points. As for Summit Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
