Basketball Recap: Providence Day Now 18-2 over Last 20 Games

Providence Day had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Covenant Day Lions 50-23. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Providence Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellie Fyans, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 16 points and seven boards. That's the most points Fyans has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Clark, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Providence Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covenant Day only racked up six assists.

Alex Dix and Avery Houseton certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dix had eight points, while Houseton earned four points and five steals.

Providence Day has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 20 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points per game. As for Covenant Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Providence Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-39 victory against Charlotte Country Day School on the 28th. Covenant Day has also already played their next match, a 52-30 win against Charlotte Christian on the 28th.
