League recap: Pinson Valley wins, gets boost in standings

Pinson Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 5A Region 6. The Indians defeated Center Point 31-6 earlier in the week.

Jordan moved up to 120 from 149 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 41-14 win over Moody helped the Blue Devils improve their standing.

ZACK MAYO and ZACK MAYO gave Springville a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. MAYO threw for 157 yards and one touchdown, while MAYO ran for 150 yards. Teammate SAM BAILEY added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.

Quadrekas Key was the best wideout in the league this week as Walker beat Hayden. Key racked up five receptions for 98 yards. SaDarius Key helped Walker's passing attack out by catching one ball for 33 yards.

Jordan's Devlin Hodges and Logan Motte have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Region 6 in both passing and receiving yards. Hodges has thrown for 776 yards this season, while Motte, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 30 catches for 433 yards. Tyler Phillips from the Vikings leads the league in rushing with 371 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Walker takes on the Eagles. John Holladay's team's offense has scored 151 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Center Point has allowed only 94 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when John Watkins' team takes on the Vikings. As it stands, the Eagles are in fifth, while Walker is in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Center Point takes on the Vikings. The Eagles have allowed 94 points this season, while Walker has given up 99.

Lynn Elkins' team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Blue Devils, 41-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Blue Devils.
