Basketball Recap: Herbert Hoover Comes Up Short

Herbert Hoover suffered their biggest loss since February 28, 2025 on Friday. They were outmatched by the Princeton Tigers and fell 71-37. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 66-45 to the Tigers when the teams met back in February of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eden Niewierowski, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Niewierowski is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ayva Veltri, who posted 15 points.

Natalie Rose went supernovafor Princeton, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 21 points and five steals. The Tigers are 6-1 when Rose posts three or more steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Kylee Jackson was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 16 points and seven boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Herbert Hoover and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Princeton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Herbert Hoover has already played their next game, an 86-20 victory against PikeView on the 17th. As for Princeton, they will square off against East Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
