Baseball Recap: Welsh Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Welsh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Carencro Bears 3-2.

Dane Iguess was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 matchups.

Iguess wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Kershaw, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Welsh is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Carencro's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-8.

Welsh wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-0 victory against St. Martinville on the 6th. As for Carencro, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-8 defeat against Rayne on the 6th.
