Softball Recap: Perry Central Beats Our Lady Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Perry Central won against Lumberton last Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Our Lady Academy Crescents. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Perry Central got a massive performance out of Peyton Merrill, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Merrill has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylen Hinton, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Perry Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.6.

The victory (which was Perry Central's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Our Lady Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Perry Central will face off against Sacred Heart at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Our Lady Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' match: after the Bulldogs faces off against the Crusaders, they'll take on Our Lady Academy again at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
