Soccer Recap: Melrose Comes Up Short

Melrose lost against Overton back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Golden Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Wolverines. While losing is never fun, Melrose can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Overton are ranked 102nd).

This is the second loss in a row for Melrose and nudges their season record down to 1-7-1. As for Overton, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Melrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Overton, they will venture away from home to face off against Lakeland Preparatory at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Overton's defense better be ready for this one: Lakeland Preparatory have averaged an impressive 4.3 goals per game this season.
