Basketball Game Preview: Keystone Wildcats vs. Clearview Clippers

The Keystone Wildcats will face off against the Clearview Clippers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Keystone's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.

Last Friday, Keystone got the win against Oberlin by a conclusive 62-38. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Keystone found their leader in freshman Colt Cowling, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 23 points and four steals. The contest was Cowling's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Zach Shackelfod was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 15 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clearview). They took their match on Friday with ease, bagging an 83-56 win over Black River. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-19.

Keystone better focus on containing Quavion Grant and Cy Christensen as the pair were huge in Clearview's win. Grant went 11 of 16 on his way to 27 points, while Christensen went 10 for 15 en route to 23 points and four steals. That's the most points Christensen has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Armelin, who posted ten points and six boards.

Keystone's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Clearview, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Keystone has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 32.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Clearview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything went Keystone's way against Clearview in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Keystone made off with a 62-37 win. In that contest, Keystone amassed a halftime lead of 40-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
