Softball Recap: Orting Sets Scoring Season-High Against Eatonville

After losing to Eatonville the last time they met, Orting decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cardinals came out on top against the Cruisers by a score of 15-11 on Friday. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kathryn Prest was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off 11 hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Orting let Madalynn Halte and Katie Arnett run wild. Halte scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-5, while Arnett scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Arnett continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryann Polly, who scored three runs and stole three bases.

Orting kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Orting's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5. As for Eatonville, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Orting will challenge rival Steilacoom at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Eatonville is set to take on their familiar foe Franklin Pierce at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
