Basketball Game Preview: Esparto Spartans vs. Elite Eagles

The Esparto Spartans will challenge the Elite Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Esparto has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 19.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-21, which was the final score in Esparto's tilt against Westlake Charter on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1465th, while the Explorers are ranked 714th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elite). They blew past Delta, posting a 99-32 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Elite's victory bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Esparto, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
