Serena Thurman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bunker Hill let Alexis Stuebe and Ivy Bowman run wild. Stuebe scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Bowman scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Bowman posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabella Machuca, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Bunker Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Burke only posted an OBP of .160.
Maiden had taken Bandys down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2.
Raegan Rembert was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Rembert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Rembert wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddy Clontz, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was Clontz's first of the season.
Maiden has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Bunker Hill, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Maiden's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bunker Hill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436.
