Basketball Recap: Charlotte Lab School Comes Up Short at Home Against Valor Preparatory Academy

Charlotte Lab School unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Valor Preparatory Academy Owls 83-45 on Monday. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Bishop Withershpoon, who went 14 of 19 en route to 32 points and six steals for Valor Preparatory Academy. That makes it four consecutive games in which Withershpoon has scored at least a third of Valor Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Omarion Dawkins, who posted nine points along with seven assists and five steals.

Valor Preparatory Academy's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Charlotte Lab School will venture away from home to challenge Lake Norman Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 17th. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-64 loss against Mountain Island Charter on the 10th.
