Soccer Game Preview: Goodrich vs. Owosso

The Goodrich Martians will venture away from home to take on the Owosso Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Goodrich's offense. They lost 3-0 to Oxford on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Goodrich came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Oxford are ranked 112th).

Meanwhile, Owosso was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Lake Fenton, falling 8-1.

Having lost for the first time this season, Goodrich fell to 7-1-1. As for Owosso, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Goodrich's way against Owosso in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Goodrich made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Martians since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
