Softball Game Preview: Franklin Admirals vs. Independence Eagles

Franklin hasn't had much luck against Independence recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Admirals will square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

Franklin blew Ravenwood out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Ravenwood got their revenge. The Admirals fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Admirals have suffered since February 15th.

Chloe Rowland spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Franklin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Myers, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Audrey Williford also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Independence hadn't done well against Nolensville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 5-2 win over the Knights. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The win got Independence back to even at 9-9. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13-1.

Franklin suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Independence when the teams last played back in March. Can the Admirals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
