Baseball Recap: Ellington Drops Season-High Score on Academy of Science and Innovation

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ellington). Everything went their way against the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-2 victory. Considering the Knights have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Weigand was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Michael Grimes was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ellington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Ellington and bumps their season record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Ellington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Ravens: the pair will be back at it again later today.
