Everton hadn't done well against Jefferson Independent Day recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cavaliers 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Cavaliers last Saturday, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Everton took Jefferson Independent Day into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 18-16.

Despite the defeat, Jefferson Independent Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Keira Flanagan had 22 digs, four aces, and two blocks. With that strong performance, Flanagan is now averaging an impressive 10.4 digs per game.

Everton's win bumped their record up to 3-5-1. As for Jefferson Independent Day, with the loss, they broke their seven-match winning streak and moved their record to 11-4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. After both having extra time off, Everton and Golden City will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:30 p.m. on the 9th. The match will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they will challenge New Heights Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
