Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Avah Spearance and Kaelyn Johnston Lead Frontier Regional to Victory

While Frontier Regional's victory against Westfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bombers 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Frontier Regional had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 19-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-9.

Frontier Regional was led to victory by Kaelyn Johnston and Avah Spearance. Johnston had 13 digs and one assist, while Spearance had nine digs and seven kills.

Frontier Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Frontier Regional and bumps their season record up to 2-2. As for Westfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Frontier Regional is set to face off against their familiar foe Minnechaug Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Westfield will challenge rival Amherst-Pelham Regional at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
