Softball Recap: Oakcrest Has No Trouble Against Pleasantville

Oakcrest got themselves on the board against Pleasantville on Thursday, but Pleasantville never followed suit. They blew past the Greyhounds 27-0. Considering the Falcons have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Chrystal Williams was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Oakcrest got a massive performance out of Rebecca Martin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave Martin a new career-high. Emilee Richards was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Oakcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .917. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Oakcrest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.9 runs over those games. As for Pleasantville, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakcrest will square off against Vineland on Saturday. As for Pleasantville, they will take on Bridgeton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
