Softball Recap: Otsego Beats Niles for Their Sixth Straight Win

Nine must be Otsego's lucky number: they beat Niles with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 9-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games in a row.

Cassie Holland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Audrey Lingbeek was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Addy Lucas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Otsego pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Niles, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, Otsego will be playing in front of their home fans against Hastings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Saxons at the right time seeing as the Saxons are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Niles, they will take on Western in a tournament on Saturday.
