Basketball Recap: Marsing Drops Season-High Score on Weiser

Marsing scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 91-81 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Weiser Wolverines. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (62), the Huskies still had to take the loss.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juan Ponce, who posted 32 points. The contest was Ponce's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Kinney, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Marsing has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Weiser, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Marsing will head out to take on Wendell at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. One thing working in Marsing's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Weiser, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-38 defeat against Lewiston on the 21st.
