Recap: Northeast Vikings vs. Cathedral Prep Ramblers
The Northeast Vikings entered their tilt with the Cathedral Prep Ramblers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Northeast walked away with a 65-53 win over Cathedral Prep on Saturday. Given Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Cathedral Prep is ranked 447th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Darrius Gaeta was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Northeast's points. Michael Freeman was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cathedral Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will take on Cathedral Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cathedral Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Erie at 7:15 p.m.
