Football Game Preview: Mineral County Serpents vs. Eureka Vandals

Mineral County is 0-5 against Eureka since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Serpents will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vandals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mineral County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Wells, who was ranked eighth at the time (Mineral County was ranked third). The Serpents took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 44-6 victory over the Leopards. The win was nothing new for the Serpents as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Chase Reeves produced another solid effort rushing for 154 yards on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 209 yards and two TDs. Those 154 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Robert Wilson, who picked up 136 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Eureka made easy work of Virginia City on Saturday and carried off a 30-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Vandals in their matchups with the Muckers: they've now won three in a row.

The victory got Eureka back to even at 4-4. As for Mineral County, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Mineral County came up short against Eureka in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 24-13. Can the Serpents avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
