Softball Preview: Florence Eagles vs. Germantown Mavericks        
        
		
            
 The Florence Eagles will head out on the road to  square off against  the Germantown Mavericks at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Florence is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 9.8  runs per game this season.
 Florence unfortunately witnessed the end of their  three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Wesson by a score of  4-3.
  Raegan King and  Helen Roberts stepped up to the plate in a big way.  King  went 2-for-3 with a  triple and a  run, while  Roberts  scored a  run and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.  Paige Berry was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, Germantown gave their fans yet another huge  win on Friday. Everything went their way against Tupelo as Germantown made off with  a  13-0 victory.
  Samantha Dodds was a standout: she got on base  in all three of her plate appearances with a  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Julia Glasgow, who  went 1-for-2 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and a  triple.
 Florence's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Germantown, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won seven of their last eight matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record  this season.
 Tuesday's   matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Florence has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Germantown struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Florence came up short against Germantown in their previous matchup  back in February of 2023, falling  4-1. Can Florence avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
