Football Game Preview: Conroe Tigers vs. The Woodlands Highlanders

Conroe hasn't had much luck against The Woodlands recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Conroe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Caney Creek a 50-0 shutout on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their ten-point performance the game before.

Conroe's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Jacob Baker refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, The Woodlands took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 55-21 victory over New Caney. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Eagles are ranked 456th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Conroe better focus on containing Jason Haskins and Jack Daulton as the pair were huge in The Woodlands' win. Haskins gained 119 total yards and five touchdowns, while Daulton rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Haskins a new career-high in rushing yards (106).

The Woodlands was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Conroe's record now sits at 5-3. As for The Woodlands, their record is now 6-2.

Conroe lost to The Woodlands on the road by a decisive 21-7 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Daulton, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD, and also threw for 94 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
