Baseball Recap: Hatton Takes a Loss

Hatton came into this matchup off a tough seven-run defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Gadsden City Titans by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hornets have suffered since April 13, 2024.

Hatton got a good showing from Rowan Armstrong, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Armstrong a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Hatton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Jeffreys, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Jeffreys has posted since back in February. Canaan Speegle was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Hatton and nudges their season record down to 13-9. As for Gadsden City, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-11 record.

Hatton has already played their next game, a 6-4 defeat against Pell City on the 25th. Gadsden City has also already played their next contest (against Oakman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
