Softball Recap: Peebles Indians vs. Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs
Peebles extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Kaelyn Musser was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Musser wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Myers, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for Lynchburg-Clay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. Seven seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
On Lynchburg-Clay's side, Noel Barnhill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Reese Ruble was excellent, earning two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lynchburg-Clay beat Peebles by a score of 12-2 on Tuesday.
