Volleyball Game Preview: Truman Patriots vs. Lee's Summit West Titans

Truman hasn't had much luck against Lee's Summit West recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Patriots will challenge the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Truman will be strutting in after a win while Lee's Summit West will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Truman turned things around against Ruskin on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Patriots not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 2nd (when they won 3-0).

Meanwhile, Lee's Summit West faced Lee's Summit North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Titans lost 3-0 to the Broncos.

While Lee's Summit West ultimately came up short, they really made Lee's Summit North work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-13, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Lee's Summit West saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Andi Gardner had 14 digs and five assists. Gardner is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Truman's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-20. As for Lee's Summit West, their loss dropped their record down to 23-5.

Truman might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Lee's Summit West in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
