Softball Recap: Cleburne Wins Going Away Against Mansfield Summit

Cleburne won the last time they faced Mansfield Summit and things went their way on Tuesday too. Cleburne was the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over Mansfield Summit. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Faith Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kadenze Quzma, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Karma James was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Cleburne's record is now 6-12-2. As for Mansfield Summit, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cleburne will square off against Seguin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mansfield Summit, they will take on Everman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mansfield Summit is facing Everman at the right time seeing as Everman is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
