Basketball Game Preview: Mantachie Mustangs vs. Kossuth Aggies

Mantachie hasn't had much luck against Kossuth recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mantachie Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Kossuth Aggies at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mantachie is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 73-56 to Falkner.

Meanwhile, Kossuth wrapped up 2024 with a 55-39 win over Lewisburg. Given the Aggies' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Patriots are ranked 245th), the result last Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Kossuth and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Mantachie, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Mantachie took a serious blow against Kossuth when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 61-32. Can Mantachie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
