Volleyball Game Preview: St. Edward's Pirates vs. Heritage Panthers

The St. Edward's Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Heritage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Tuesday, St. Edward's made easy work of Sebastian River and carried off a 3-0 victory.

While St. Edward's won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Heritage came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Commodores with a sharp 3-0 win.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-10, 25-16.

St. Edward's better focus on containing Kyra Davis and Eva Vuichard as the pair were huge in Heritage's win. Davis had 15 kills, seven digs, and one block, while Vuichard had 33 assists and one block. That's the most kills Davis has posted over her last seven matchups. Another player making a difference was Amber Gunter, who had 11 digs and two assists.

St. Edward's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

St. Edward's was able to grind out a solid victory over Heritage in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
