Basketball Recap: Vance County Takes a Loss

Vance County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Carrboro Jaguars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (55), the Vipers still had to take the loss.

Carrboro was led to victory by Bakari Watkins and Sam Kanjorski. Watkins dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Kanjorski posted 15 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Kanjorski a new career-high in steals.

Vance County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Carrboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Vance County will be playing in front of their home fans against Louisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carrboro, they will challenge J.F. Webb at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. J.F. Webb knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Carrboro likes a good challenge.
