Baseball Recap: Floyd Central Victorious

Floyd Central's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Jackson County Generals 3-2. The Jaguars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Generals, too.

Landon Prater tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Floyd Central's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Barrett Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Logan Meade was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Floyd Central's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Jackson County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season.

Floyd Central will welcome Letcher County Central at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jackson County, they will be playing at home against South Laurel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
