River Mill's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Clover Garden School Grizzlies. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Grizzlies back in March, they had to take a 7-0 defeat.
The team relied heavily on Summer Basden, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Pryce Lovette, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
River Mill has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Clover Garden School, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Mill will challenge Central Carolina Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. After both having extra time off, Clover Garden School and Bethany Community will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
