Recap: Leilehua Mighty Mules vs. Punahou Buff n' Blue
Even though the Leilehua Mighty Mules have not done well against the Punahou Buff n' Blue recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Leilehua narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Punahou 61-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Buff n' Blue players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ayndra N Uperesa-Thomas, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Yoshimoto, who scored 10 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Leilehua and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Punahou, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Leilehua will face off against Moanalua at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Moanalua focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Sunday. As for Punahou, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Westside Christian at 8:30 p.m.
