Softball Recap: Rib Lake Comes Up Short

Rib Lake was the 10-0 winner over Athens when they last played one another back in April of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Redmen lost 11-5 to the Bluejays on Monday.

Rib Lake saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Weik, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Avery Niemi was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Rib Lake has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Athens, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bluejays beat Rib Lake by a score of 16-4 on Tuesday.
