Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Wins for Queen's Grant

Queen's Grant put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. The Stallions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellow Jackets, too.

Addi Benton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Melissa Detweiler was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Steele, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Queen's Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest Hills only managed three hits.

Queen's Grant's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for Forest Hills, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Queen's Grant will host Union Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Queen's Grant's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Union Preparatory's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Forest Hills, they will welcome Concord at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
