Basketball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jefferson Davis Academy can now relate to. They took a 40-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holly Hill Academy Raiders on Friday. Jefferson Davis Academy was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Holly Hill Academy earlier this season, when they won 54-41.

Holly Hill Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Milly Kate Prescott led the charge by putting up 14 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Prescott has scored at least a third of Holly Hill Academy's points. Kaley Bell was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Jefferson Davis Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Holly Hill Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.

Jefferson Davis Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holly Hill Academy, they will face off against Curtis Baptist on Tuesday. Curtis Baptist will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Holly Hill Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
