Baseball Recap: King Philip Regional's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but King Philip Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Hopkinton Hillers 4-3. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Hillers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Nate Pennini spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Lutfy, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. Aiden Astorino was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

The win keeps King Philip Regional at an undefeated 4-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.5 runs across that stretch. As for Hopkinton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, King Philip Regional will look to defend their home field on Monday against Foxborough at 3:45 p.m. As for Hopkinton, they are taking a road trip to challenge Westwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Hillers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
